GREED

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF GREED ?

*noun* 1. intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food."mercenaries who had allowed greed to overtake their principles."

SCRIPTURES ON GREED:

1 TIMOTHY 9-10.

BUT THOSE WISHING TO BE RICH FALL INTO A TRIAL AND A SNARE, AND INTO MANY FOOLISH AND INJURIOUS LUSTS WHICH PLUNGE MEN INTO RUIN AND DESTRUCTION. FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY IS "A" ROOT OF ALL KINDS OF EVIL, FOR WHICH SOME, BY LONGING FOR IT, HAVE STRAYED FROM THE BELIEF, AND PIERCED THEMSELVES THROUGH WITH MANY PAINS.

You will notice verse 10 says for the love of money is "A ROOT," of all kinds of evil. A root is something that can be planted, this root is evil and will pierce us with many pains, left to grow it will bring us to ruin and destruction. This trial and snare can make us loose our belief, we can be plunged into many foolish and injurious lusts. It is like drinking poison to take this root into our desires.

As long as we remember that the love of money is a dangerous root, and will not harm us unless we drink it into our desires. On the other hand there is nothing wrong with being successful with a clear conscience, it can be a wonderful witness of the favour of Yahusha in our lives. Be wise with your dealings with the mindset of this world.
