New translations are using the word 'PIOUS' instead of religion. So when was the word pious first used?

From the beginning of its use in the 15th century this Latin descendant has been used to describe those who are simply very religious—that is, who are deeply devoted to their religion—but it has for centuries also described those who make a show of their religiousness and use it to assert their superiority.

The word "PIOUS" chosen instead of "RELIGION" in scriptural interpretation, brings us into singular behaviour.

SCRIPTURAL UNDERSTANDING:-

JAMES 1:26-27 "If anyone among you thinks he is Religious/Pious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this ones piousness/religion is worthless. Clean and undefiled piousness before the Alahim and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world".

Most interesting how there is no word for "Religion" in the Hebrew ! Also that pious/ness speaks of our singular behaviours.
