LIES DESTROY

People often have different interpretations of what constitutes a lie, so to avoid confusion, we looked at the original Hebrew language—the “inspired” source—to uncover the true meaning, with the goal of a practical solution to this question:

What is a lie, and how should we respond to it as a community?

A “LIE” in Hebrew encompasses:

* Falsehood – Deliberate deception.

* Treachery – Betrayal or hidden malice behind dishonest words.

* Ambush Behaviour – “Lying in wait” to deceive, trap, or manipulate (like a predator stalking prey).

* Bragging/Self-Exaltation – False claims that distort reality. All these definitions

expand “lie” beyond mere words to include actions, intentions & patterns of deceit.

We also reference Yahusha’s Parable of the wheat and tares (Matt 13:24–30), for

Lies are likened to weeds sown among the faithful: They incline people away

from truth (slanting rays of evening). They dwell among believers (like tents pitched

in a camp). Their goal is to choke out truth and corrupt the community. This imagery

underscores the danger of subtle infiltration—lies often blend in, masquerading as

truth until they bear destructive fruit.

The Tactics and Consequences of Lies (identifying how lies operate):

* Deceptive Language – Mixing truth with falsehood (satan’s strategy).

* Toxicity – Lies “parched” the body like drought, leading to spiritual decay.

* Destructive Outcomes – Lies kill, desolate, and enslave those who believe them.

An Urgent Call to Discernment and Practical Vigilance:

* Guard Your Mind: Be cautious of what you “ingest” (ideas, criticism, flattery).

(Lies often sound appealing, enticing and wonderful, but breed deathly poison).

* Recognise Behaviour: Lies manifest in behavioiur (gossip, manipulation, hypocrisy).

* Armour Up: Spiritual discernment and scriptural truth are essential defences.

“Yahusha wants us clean, full of His pure Word.” Lies distance people from divine truth.

We committed to a resolve of “being real and honest” while investigating the truth.

* Personal Integrity – Aligning words and actions with truth.

* Community Accountability – Gently correcting deceitful patterns among ourselves.

* Ongoing Study – Further exploration of scriptural teachings on lies.

The tone blended urgency with hope: though lies are pervasive, the truth, rooted in

love, offers freedom and protection in Yahusha Alahim.

LIE - SCRIPTURES :

LEV 19:11 “You will not steal, neither deal falsely, nor lie to one another”.

ZECH 10:2 “For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams - they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd!”

JOHN 8:42

“Yahusha said to them, ‘If Alahim were your Father, you would love Me, for I have come here from Alahim. I have not come on my own, for Alahim sent Me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe Me? Whoever belongs to Alahim hears what Alahim says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to Alahim.’”

ACTS 5:1

“Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the Apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to Yahusha’s Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to Alahim.” And when Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized

all who heard what had happened. Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him ....And great fear seized the whole Assembly and all who heard about these events”.

ROMANS 1:20

“For since the creation of the world Alahim’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew Alahim, they neither glorified Him as Alahim nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal Alahim for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore, Alahim gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of

their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about Alahim for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator—Who is forever praised.

COLOSSIANS 3:2

“Since, then, you have been raised with Yahusha, set your hearts on things above, where Yahusha is, seated at the right hand of Alahim. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Him. When Yahusha (Who is your life) appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. So put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed (which is idolatry). Because of these, the wrath of Yahusha is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not LIE to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being restored in

knowledge in the image of its Creator.

2 THESSALONIANS 2:8

“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Master Yahusha will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of His coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be delivered. For this reason Yahusha sends them a powerful delusion so that they will BELIEVE THE LIE and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness”.

1 JOHN 1:6 + 2:21

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, WE LIE, and don’t do the truth. I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and that NO LIE IS OF THE TRUTH”.

REVELATION 21:22

“And I saw no temple there: for the Yahuah Alahim Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of Alahim did light it, and the Lamb is the light thereof (YAHUSHA ALAHIM IS ONE). And the nations of those delivered will walk in the light of it: and the kings of the bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it will not be shut at all by day: for there will be no night there. And there will in no way enter into it anything that defiles, neither anything that is an abomination, OR MAKES A LIE: but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life”.

SUMMARY

The Scriptures present a clear and uncompromising stance against lying, revealing it as fundamentally opposed to Yahusha Alahim’s nature and very destructive to human relationships. We saw a direct commandment in Leviticus against dealing falsely with one another and in Revelation 21, there is a vision of a holy city where nothing that “makes a lie” can enter... so Scripture consistently portrays truthfulness as essential to living the fruits of righteousness in Yahusha’s Royal Laws of Love.

The consequences of lying are severe and far-reaching. False prophets and teachers lead people astray through deception (Jer 27), while those who exchange Yahusha’s truth for lies face spiritual darkness and moral corruption (Rom 1). The dramatic account of Ananias and Sapphira in (Acts 5) demonstrates that lying to Alahim—and His people carries ultimate consequences. Yahusha even identifies Satan as “the father of lies”, establishing lying as fundamentally satanic and evil in origin.

So we are called to “put off” the old nature of deception and embrace truth as part of our new identity in Yahusha, for Scripture teaches that walking in truth demonstrates genuine fellowship and relationship with Yahusha, while those who claim to know Him yet live in deception and lies reveal their spiritual darkness and we can see the behaviour of it!
