⭐ PART 1 —
THE OLD COVENANT COULD NOT MAKE ANYONE SPIRITUAL
1. The Old Covenant was external, not internal
Exodus 24:7–8
“And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that Yahuah hath said will we do, and be obedient. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which Yahuah hath made with you concerning all these words.”
External sprinkling — not inward transformation.
Deuteronomy 5:2–3
“Yahuah our Alahim made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Yahuah made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.”
A temporary covenant for a specific people — not eternal, spiritual regeneration.
Deuteronomy 10:16
“Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.”
If they were commanded to circumcise their hearts, it means they did NOT have circumcised hearts under the Old Covenant.
Jeremiah 9:25–26
“Behold, the days come, saith Yahuah, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised… for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.”
Outward covenant sign — no inward spiritual reality.
2. The Old Covenant exposed sin but could not remove it
Romans 3:20
“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
The law reveals sin — but does not create spiritual life.
Romans 7:7
“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Alahim forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law…”
The Torah (law/instruction) exposes sin but cannot free from it.
3. Animal sacrifices could never cleanse the conscience
Hebrews 10:1–4
“For the law having a shadow of good things to come… can never with those sacrifices… make the comers thereunto perfect. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”
Temporary covering, not inward cleansing.
Hebrews 9:9–10
“…which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.”
Carnal (physical) ordinances — not spiritual life.
4. The Old Covenant did not give the Spirit
John 7:39
“But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because Yahusha was not yet glorified.”
Before Yahusha's sacrifice, no indwelling Ruach/Spirit.
Ezekiel 36:26–27
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you…
And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes…”
This is New Covenant, not Old.
5. The Old Covenant was the “ministry of death”
2 Corinthians 3:6–9
“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious… For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.”
Stone = Old Covenant
Spirit = New Covenant
Stone brings death, Spirit brings life.
⭐ PART 2 —
ONLY YAHUSHA’S NEW COVENANT MAKES A PERSON SPIRITUAL
1. Yahusha gives the indwelling Ruach
Romans 8:9
“Now if any man have not the Spirit of Messiah, he is none of His.”
A person becomes spiritual only when Yahusha’s Spirit enters them.
Romans 8:2
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yahusha hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
Old Covenant = sin + death
New Covenant = Spirit + life
2. The New Covenant writes Torah on the heart
Jeremiah 31:31–33
“Behold, the days come, saith Yahuah, that I will make a new covenant… I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their Alahim…”
Old: stone tables
New: heart tablets
3. Yahusha cleanses the conscience
Hebrews 9:14
“How much more shall the blood of Messiah… purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living Alahim?”
Only Yahusha reaches the inner man.
4. Yahusha makes a believer spiritually alive
Ephesians 2:1–5
“And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins…
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah…”
Without Yahusha, ALL humans are spiritually dead.
1 Corinthians 15:45
“The last Adam was made a quickening (life-giving) Spirit.”
Only Yahusha gives spiritual life.
5. The New Covenant creates the “spiritual man”
1 Corinthians 2:12–15
“Now we have received… the Spirit which is of Alahim… But he that is spiritual judges all things…”
Spirituality = receiving Yahusha's Spirit.
6. The Old Covenant could not transform the inner person
Ezekiel 11:19–20
“And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you…
That they may walk in My statutes…”
Only Yahuah’s Spirit causes obedience.
